Welcome to Dumfries and Galloway

Dumfries and Galloway is Located in the western Southern Uplands, it comprises the historic counties of Dumfriesshire, Stewarty of Kirkudbright and Wigtownshire. This part of lowland Scotland compromises of undulating coastline made up of rocky shoreline and sandy beaches, where as inland there are acres of forest and green spaces.

The region has borders with East Ayrshire and South Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire, Cumbria in England and the Solway Firth and to the west the Irish Sea.

The region has three National scenic areas, Nith Estuary, East Stewartry Coast and Fleet Valley.

Dumfries and Galloway is well known for its arts and cultural activities as well as its natural environment. Towns and villages in the region include: Annan, Beattock, Cairnryan, Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie, Dumfries, Ecclefechan, Gretna, isle of Whithorn, Kirkudbright, Lockerbie, Moffat, New Galloway,Newton Stewart, Portpatrick, Stranraer, Thornhill and Wigtown.
