Welcome to Perth and Kinross

Perth and Kinross borders Aberdeenshire, Angus, Argyll and Bute, Clackmannanshire, Dundee, Fife, Highland and Stirling.

Geographically the area is split by the Highland Boundary fault not a more mountainous northern part and a flatter southern part.

In the southern part of the region agriculture plays an important part to the local economy, the scenic nature of the northern part makes tourism an important part of the economy. The region has one city, the city of Perth beside the River Tay.

Some of the towns and villages found in this region are Aberfeldy, Dunkeld, Alyth, Blairgowrie, Kinross, Pitlochry, Coupar Angus and Crieff.

The Forestry Commission controls large parts of the area and its also home to a number of hydroelectric dams.
