Welcome to South Lanarkshire

South Lanarkshire has borders with Scottish Borders, North Lanarkshire, West Lothian. South Lanarkshire borders the south-east of Glasgow City and contains some of Greater Glasgow suburbs and also contains many towns and villages.

Its most populated town is East Kilbride followed by Hamilton, Rutherglen, Cambuslang, Blantyre, Larkhall, Carluke and Lanark.

The large and varied geographical territory takes in rural and upland areas from market towns such as Lanark, Carluke, Biggar and Strathaven to the urban burghs of East Kilbride (Scotlands first New town), Rutherglen and Cambuslang. Home to the Falls of Clyde, New Lanark World heritage site,The Clyde valley, Chatelherault Country Park, David Livingstone Centre and much more.

It also plays host to South Lanarkshire College and the University of the west of Scotland. The main area of the region is predominately agricultural surrounding many small towns and villages such as Abington, Bigger, Braehead, Coulter, Crawfordjohn, Dolphinton, Elsrickle, Leadhills, Quathquan, Roberton, Symington and Wiston.
